PNEUMATIC HEADACHES, NO MORE

When we say the words “pneumatic solenoid valves”, we know your heart almost sinks.

If it’s not getting blocked, it’s leaking or the coils are losing power – and let’s not even talk about the quick fixes that need to happen to keep a 24/7 facility running, which just cause more headaches and downtime in the long run. We feel your pain. But luckily Lasrust Enterprises is here to relieve it!

We recently had a client who experienced this exact scenario. They were due for an overhaul, and the pneumatic airline equipment was on the “to-do list” – to ensure fewer breakdowns, no pressure losses and higher quality of air to all the pneumatic instruments within the plant. Needless to say, we delivered!

We once again joined forces with one of our most trusted partners, SMC South Africa. They exceeded our expectations with an incredible design and top-quality products that can face up to some of South Africa’s harshest environments. With the client’s approval, we were able to take the plant’s air supply to the next level.

SMC ISO Solenoid Valve Bank:

The first step was to install our SMC ISO Solenoid Valve Bank. During the design phase, we gave the client the option to add additional ports to the bank and blank them off; this would make future plant expansion or breakdowns easier to manage.

We therefore added two ports and blanked them off with blanking plates. We then bolted on the SMC ISO 5/2Way Solenoid Valves with 24Vdc coils, all pre-wired to its built-in terminal blocks.

SMC Shut Off Isolation Valve:

To provide a breath of fresh air, we used the SMC Shut Off Isolation Valve to add full pneumatic safety to the pneumatic part of the panel. When work is in progress, the client can Lock & Tag Out on the pneumatic side to fix a possible breakdown.

Only once it is safe to do so, will the air flow through the isolation valve and into our “trap”: The SMC Filter Regulator Auto Drain Unit.

SMC Filter Regulator Auto Drain Unit:

This filter regulator provides the solenoid valve bank with beautifully clean air and a perfectly adjusted air ratio to suit the application. All condensate and particals are collected in the unit’s reservoir, which is then filtered and automatically dumped via SMC’s Clear Blue Polyurethane Tubing to the outside of the panel.

The Finishing Touches:

We also added a SMC Digital Pressure Switch with local display, which indicates air supply to the panel. We then rounded the panel off with SMC Clear Blue Polyurathane Tubing and SMC Stainless Steel Quick Connection fittings.

All tubing is connected to our SMC Bulkheads at the bottom of the panel to provide easy site installation and quick commissioning.
