Introducing the Grace HSM Hot Spot Monitor
Annual or bi-annual hot spot checks are no longer enough to safeguard your critical switchgear. That’s why Lasrust and Grace Technologies bring you a groundbreaking solution: Permanent hot spot monitoring for your MCCs and substations.
This cutting-edge technology provides continuous, real-time monitoring, ensuring early detection of potential failures before they become costly problems. Say goodbye to periodic inspections and hello to 24/7 protection for your MCBs, MCCBs, and MSPs.
SAFETY BY DESIGN
Enhanced Maintenance Planning
– Continuous temperature monitoring and real-time alerts detect electrical hot spots before failures occur, preventing costly shutdowns.
Easy Installation
– Non-conductive fibre probes securely attach to existing bolted connections and potential heat sources, including busbars, breaker connections, bus ducts, transformers, and other critical components.
Suitable for Any Voltage
– Non-conductive technology ensures safe application across all electrical systems.
Minimised Risk
– Gain remote access to temperature data from critical, hard-to-reach connections, with real-time alarms and monitoring via the GraceSense™ Web Utility Interface, Ethernet I/P™, and MODBUS communication.
LET’S TALK APPLICATIONS
Electrical hot spots are primarily caused by current flowing through connections such as lugs, screw terminals, circuit breaker stabs, and busbar joints. Some critical hot spots, however, are inaccessible to infrared thermography, making them difficult to detect. Infrared cameras cannot always capture accurate temperature readings, leaving potential risks unnoticed.
The integrity of internal bolted connections can also be compromised when electrical equipment experiences wide load fluctuations or high harmonic distortion. To address these challenges, the GraceSense™ Hot Spot Monitor (HSM) is ideal for the following applications:
-
- Low-voltage/medium-voltage switchgear
-
- Low-voltage/medium-voltage MCCs and drives
-
- Motors, generators, and dry-type transformers
-
- Load break and transfer switches
-
- Bus ducts and busbar connections
-
- DC switchgear, MCCs, and drives
-
- Large UPS batteries and inverters
-
- High-current junction boxes
EASY TO INSTALL? ABSOLUTELY!
Mount the HSM module onto a DIN rail inside the low-voltage or control compartment. Securely attach the fibre temperature probe to the ring-style connector and affix the probe assembly to existing bolted connections inside the electrical equipment—particularly where heat sources, such as busbars and lug connections, typically develop.
Once the bolted connection is secured, route the other end of the fibre through the equipment and connect it to the HSM module inside the low-voltage compartment.
IT’S ALL IN THE OPERATION
The GraceSense™ Hot Spot Monitor (HSM) is a non-conductive temperature monitoring and alarm system designed to detect potential hot spots, allowing users to predict and prevent failures in electrical equipment._
By identifying faults before they occur, businesses can avoid unplanned outages, service interruptions, and costly equipment failures._Seamless plant-wide integration is made possible via MODBUS TCP/IP or EtherNet/IP™, while stand-alone operation is supported through the GraceSense™ web interface, where users can configure temperature thresholds, monitoring intervals, and relay outputs.
