ALL IN THE NAME OF ACCURACY

What do you do when you’re noting false readings on your slurry sump radar level measurement? Simple: You call Lasrust Enterprises to assist! This is exactly what one of our key clients did, and here’s how we assisted them.

The Problem:

As always, we started with a site visit. We instantly noted that the splatter from the slurry discharge pipes was completely covering the radar unit, which meant that it couldn’t function properly in these conditions. What’s more, the splatter was what caused the unit to give inaccurate readings. But to complicate things even more, the installation position couldn’t change due to accessibility – and discharging the pipe would lead to astronomical costs for the client.

The Solution:

As you know, we never turn down a challenge! We knew that the best and most cost-effective solution would be to propose an instrument change. And what better solution to the problem than the trusted Siemens Echomax XPS Ultrasonic Transducer & Multiranger Level Transmitter? The Siemens Echomax XPS Transducer proved to be the perfect solution, as it has a unique self-cleaning capability. This means that the build-up that was causing the false readings on the previous system, wouldn’t be a problem anymore. Even more impressively, the Multiranger’s auto false-echo suppression ensures that false echoes from discharge pipes and slurry splatter do not impact the readings.

The Outcome:

We mounted the Multiranger a few meters away in an accessible spot to give the client a visual level display and simplify general maintenance. After only 3 months of running the system, the client already noticed a massive impact, and not a single problem or false reading! In fact, they are already looking at purchasing another 2 units for similar applications.
